Lisa Lerkenfeldt is a composer and performer living in Melbourne. Her works alter time with a ‘radical softness’ (Boomkat). Drawing from lineages of musique concrète, American minimalism and modernist music, she seeks out altered tonalities with contemporary resonance and the beauty of restraint. Her trance-like attention to detail and explorations in harmonics, timbre and improvisation inform a diary-like intimacy. Her debut LP ‘Collagen’ released on Shelter Press in 2020 following her EP ‘A Liquor Of Daisies,’ a 40-minute phase piece for piano and tape. Lerkenfeldt’s sophomore album releases on Shelter Press in 2023.

‘J and the woolen stars’ (J と羊毛の星たち) is brief, heart-on-sleeve, plainspoken. A type of lilting-melancholic folk confessional… Eternally, devastatingly romantic and caught between a thought of whether people would see that ‘romantic’ doesn’t mean ‘sweet’. It’s dark and tormented — the furor of passion and despair of an idealism you can’t attain.
